Risk Assessment

Potential hazards associated with my video:

Camera equipment
Cars
Public Spaces

CAMERA EQUIPMENT

The equipment I will use will be a tripod, therefore I must make sure that the area around the camera is clear. This is to ensure that people do not trip over the tripod. It also means that no one will kick and break the camera. This is not too dangerous however it is something that could easily happen.

CARS.

While filming, one of the actors who are currently not in the shot will make sure no cars are approaching and if so we will all go to the side of the road and wait for the cars to pass. I will never place the camera on the road. This is dangerous but not very likely. We will make sure to remain vigilant anyway.

Public Spaces

We will make sure to not be obstructing any paths or filming in places where people are unaware. I will make sure to let any nearby people know that we are filming so that they do no accidentally get in the way of one of the actors or walk into equipment. This is not very dangerous but can easily happen

LOGO DESIGNS

The first thing I did when making my logo, was picking the main colour. I wanted the logo to resemble a car licence plate because it reflects one of the conventions of rappers, showing off nice assets (cars and houses) I decided on the yellow design as it is a colour which makes it look like a licence plate and also resembles gold and links to jewellery. I used a sans serif font to make it look very contemporary as I am looking to appeal to a younger audience

I developed the basic design to get this design which is meant to reflect subverting against the norm as everything is crossed out.

I decided finally on this design that uses the same sans-serif font of licence plates and therefore reinforces the point further

Preliminary task music video

This preliminary task was set in order to teach us some basic skills we would need when it came to producing our own videos.

We went through the planning elements by storyboarding the task and assigning actors. We then proceeded to film and then edit our own individual videos. The planning session was vital as it showed me how much detail I needed to use in my storyboard. That is an improvement I will make on my final project as the storyboard for this task was not very detailed and this led to long, boring, unedited scenes.

During the filming and editing process, I was taught how to do a "match on action" which helps the video flow nicely. This is something I will take on board in my project. I was also taught about basic transitions such as the fade. I will experiment with the different transition types with my final project.

In terms of camera work, the entire video was shot by a handheld camera which made the video look a lot less professional and also messy. To improve on this I will use a Tripod and possibly a dolly in order to keep the shots smooth and looking professional.
